Welcome to Humanists Doing Good!

We are a nonprofit and nonreligious community of compassionate and rational people doing good for the sake of good. We are people learning, socializing and volunteering together. We are always looking for more people to join our cause and invite you to learn more about our organization and our beliefs. You just may be surprised to learn that great minds such as Albert Einstein have shared our vision.

Humanists Doing Good focuses on improving our lives by improving the lives of others.

November 13th, 2011 - Social and Planning Meeting

Humanists Doing Good will be meeting on Sunday, November 13th at 10 am in the Mesa Mall Community Meeting Room. We will be planning some "get to know each other" activities. Coffee will be provided and everyone is invited to bring anything else to eat or drink. We will also be discussing future plans, projects and events for the organization with an eye toward establishing a more longterm calendar. This is a great opportunity to have your ideas heard, to get to know everyone better, and to play a part in the decision making process.

    November 6th, 2011 - Meeting

Humanists Doing Good will be meeting Sunday at 10:00 am to noon at the Mesa Mall Community Meeting Room. We will be having bagels and coffee and watching a movie called The Nature of Existence. If you would like to bring anything else to eat or drink, please feel free to do so. The movie does contain some adult content and language that we can discuss in advance with anyone who might be concerned. Before we begin the movie we plan to discuss the previous good deeds and to do some discussion about our next good deed event.

Film overview: Filmmaker Roger Nygard roams the globe to the source of each of the world's philosophies, religions, and belief systems. He interviews spiritual leaders, scholars, scientists, artists, pizza chefs, and others who have influenced, inspired, or freaked out humanity.

Leaf Raking and Coat Collecting Good Deeds Summary - October 30th, 2011

Our leaf raking volunteers went down Rood Avenue in Grand Junction and offered to rake lawns free of charge and with no strings attached for as many people as we could during two hours. We ended up helping a variety of people who proved grateful for the assistance. We were even delivered a batch of cookies by one household we helped. It was especially rewarding for our volunteers when we were able to assist some individuals who were unable to rake their own lawns for medical reasons. This proved to be a fun way to get out and do a random good deed that people were absolutely not expecting.

Volunteers raking leaves for free with no strings attached.

After the leaf raking, we delivered carloads of coats and winter items to Caitlyn's Warm Hearts Project. We had the pleasure of speaking with Caitlyn's mother and we estimate that will have delivered around 100 coats, several stacks of blankets and some other useful items by the time everything is compiled and delivered.
