Welcome to Humanists Doing Good!
We are a nonprofit and nonreligious community of compassionate and rational people doing good for the sake of good. We are people learning, socializing and volunteering together. We are always looking for more people to join our cause and invite you to learn more about our organization and our beliefs. You just may be surprised to learn that great minds such as Albert Einstein have shared our vision.
Humanists Doing Good focuses on improving our lives by improving the lives of others.
On October 30th from 10:00 am to noon we will be carrying out a leaf raking good deed event. We are currently looking for a few homes with people who are unable to rake their own leaves or would have great difficulty in doing so to assist with no strings attached. If you know of anyone who could greatly benefit from our assistance, please let us know. We ask that volunteers bring any raking tools, gloves and leaf bags that they may have available to assist in completing this good deed. Also remember to wear your volunteer shirts if you have received one, but please don't let not having a shirt stop you from participating. This is an excellent opportunity for people who have not yet volunteered to get involved in doing a good deed for the sake of doing good. We will likely meet at 10:00 am to coordinate and distribute tools to accomplish the task.
Humanists Doing Good volunteers went out for our first good deed event and collected several coats and blankets for people in need. This proved an excellent opportunity for us to get out and wear our new volunteer shirts with pride. We are encouraging our members to continue to collect coats and blankets on their own during the week so that we can donate them altogether the following weekend. Additional coat and blanket donations can be brought to the next meeting. Special thanks goes out to the neighborhood we visited for the generosity in supporting Caitlyn's Warm Hearts project. It was great to see our volunteers out doing something positive for the community and helping people in need. Be sure to also check out some additional photos in our new photo gallery (link in main menu).
We will be collecting coats and blankets on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:30 am until approximately 11:30 am for Caitlyn's Caring and Sharing Warm Hearts Project. We will first meet at Safeway on Horizon Drive at 10:00 am to distribute shirts that have been ordered and to carpool. We did not know it at the time we decided as a group to support this project, but one of our own members who was not present at the meeting has a personal connection to Caitlyn. Volunteers are asked to please RSVP by phone or email. We will be attempting to have some volunteer shirts produced in time for this event, but will need to know the shirt sizes of everyone who is planning to participate. It is important that we obtain an accurate count of people who will be participating so that we can have adequate transportation available. We would prefer that people share rides as much as possible for this particular event so we do not congest the neighborhood we will be working in any more than is necessary. Please join us on this good deed and help us carry on a great project.
As a side note, several people have been contributing to the revision of our logo and we have the version we are planning to place on volunteer shirts now finalized.
