Welcome to Humanists Doing Good!
We are a nonprofit and nonreligious community of compassionate and rational people doing good for the sake of good. We are people learning, socializing and volunteering together. We are always looking for more people to join our cause and invite you to learn more about our organization and our beliefs. You just may be surprised to learn that great minds such as Albert Einstein have shared our vision.
Humanists Doing Good focuses on improving our lives by improving the lives of others.
The Universal Unitarians and WCAF will be bringing Phil Zuckerman to Grand Junction to speak. Phil Zuckerman will be talking about contemporary apostasy, based on his book "Faith No More: Why People Reject Religion." He will also talk about the recent increase of secularity in America, and go over some of the reasons why we see this increase, and why individuals are leaving religion in greater numbers than ever before.
1:00 pm at the Universal Unitarian building at 1022 Grand Avenue in Grand Junction.
The Kony 2012 effort has achieved remarkable success and has taken the world by storm. It has been called the most effective viral video to date. The 30 minute video focuses on a warlord leader from the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda who has tortured, killed and forced children to become soldiers. Uganda is also a nation which has pushed for the death penalty as punishment for homosexuality. Humanists Doing Good will be showing two videos that highlight problems in Uganda while also exploring some of the ways that imported religions may be creating additional problems for an already troubled nation. Critical analysis of the videos and the numerous problems surrounding Uganda will be encouraged after the videos are shown. Coffee will be provided. Please feel free to bring something to share.
