Welcome to Humanists Doing Good!

We are a nonprofit and nonreligious community of compassionate and rational people doing good for the sake of good. We are people learning, socializing and volunteering together. We are always looking for more people to join our cause and invite you to learn more about our organization and our beliefs. You just may be surprised to learn that great minds such as Albert Einstein have shared our vision.

Humanists Doing Good focuses on improving our lives by improving the lives of others.

Join everyone as we clean our adopted stretch of the I-70 Business Loop just west of Mesa Mall. Our stretch of road is a little over 2 miles long so we can certainly use as many volunteers as possible. We also like to have a bit of a treasure hunt each time we go out to see who can discover the most unusual or interesting items.

We supply trash bags and safety vests. We recommend that you bring your own water, sturdy footwear and gloves and consider things like sunscreen, layered clothing, etc. We ask that all volunteers who wish to participate watch the two brief safety videos found at the following address:

When: Saturday, October 14th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Where: 2210 , Grand Junction - We will park in the Red Roof Inn/Roosters parking lot near the TA Travel Center. This is near the I-70 overpass.

Click here to RSVP on our meetup site.

Join everyone for a social brunch and monthly meeting to start off the month of October. Bring a dish to share (if you can post your dish in the comments it will help us fill any gaps) and enjoy all the wonderful food everyone else brings. There is no particular theme for this brunch. We'll also receive updates, do some planning for the future and discuss upcoming events. We could use ideas for future volunteer events and we'll probably do some planning for a Halloween party.

When: Saturday, October 7th at 10:00 am

Where: Garden Room at the Commons of Hilltop (625 27 1/2 Road - park at the rear of the building and enter through the external Garden Room entrance)

Lower Onion Creek is located on the banks of the Colorado River in Utah. It is located near Fisher Towers that will provide excellent hiking opportunities and some of the most magnificent scenic views in the region.

The group site we have reserved should have a fire grate, picnic tables, vault toilets and shade shelter. It does not have water or electric hook-ups. We are asking that no dogs be brought on this particular trip.

If you would like to hike the Fisher Towers trail it can be up to 5.2 miles to complete or you can opt to return along the trail at any point after you've had your fill. Most trail websites seem to categorize the trail as moderate in difficulty and there are places where a fixed ladder must be climbed. There is a 650 foot elevation gain.

When: Saturday, September 30th beginning around Noon.

Where: Take I-70 West to UT-128. Take exit 214 from I-70 West. Follow UT-128 to Lower Onion Creek Campground (about 30 miles from the turnoff).
