Nov. 14th, 2013 - Fear and Faith

Fear and Faith are two programs featuring British illusionist, mentalist, trickster, hypnotist, painter, writer, and skeptic, Derren Brown. He unleashes his most audacious plan yet as he demonstrates his unique and almost uncanny ability to misdirect, manipulate and mesmerize. In the first of two extraordinary events, Derren presents an experiment in which he claims to eradicate people's experience of fear through the use of a powerful new drug. But can he really help the participants to conquer their afflictions? Then in part two, the hypnotist investigates the psychology of religious belief. Can he use the power of suggestion to give an atheist a religious conversion? Join Derren as he uncovers the secrets of the human mind. This event is not open to the general public.

When: Thursday, November 14 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Where: Wraps on Main (150 West Main Street)

Nov. 1st, 2013 - After-Halloween Party

Humanists Doing Good will be having an After-Halloween Party on Friday, November 1st. Everyone is encouraged to come in a Halloween costume. We'll have Halloween music, games, treats and more.

We are planning to play a game called Werewolf. The game of Werewolf is composed of two teams: werewolves and townsfolk. The objective of the werewolves is to kill off all the villagers without themselves being killed. The objective of the townsfolk is to figure out who the werewolves are and kill them. One of the townsfolk is a seer, who has the ability to tell whether other players are werewolves or not.

We'll be making some chili for the evening and doing things in potluck fashion. If you can bring something to go along with chili, that will great! This will be a B.Y.O.B. event. Come and join the party!

When: Friday, November 1st at 7:00 pm

Where: Jesse & Velvet's (we'll send directions to those who RSVP)
