Jan. 3rd, 2013 - The People Speak

The People Speak is inspired by Howard Zinn's bestseller A People's History of the United States. This star studded documentary takes an unguarded look at our nation's decades-long struggle with the pressing issues of war, race, class, and women's rights. Viggo Mortenson, Danny Glover, Marisa Tomei, Matt Damon, Kerry Washington, and other Hollywood stars stage impassioned readings of historical testimonies by the people who helped to shape our country's sociopolitical landscape, including Langston Hughes, Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglas, and Bob Dylan. Additional actors assume the roles of labor leaders, civil rights demonstrators, abolitionists, and various other trailblazers who weren't afraid to speak out during some of the more turbulent periods in our nation's history. Join us to learn more about our shared history and the importance of letting your voice be heard.

When: January 3rd, 2013 at 6:00 pm

Dec. 25th, 2012 - Holiday Treat Delivery

Volunteers from Humanists Doing Good will be delivering treats around the Grand Valley to people who are working or otherwise away from their friends and family for the holidays. Our members will be baking treats that we will package during our HumanLight holiday celebration. On the 25th we will send out teams of volunteers to give these surprise treats to. If you are interested in volunteering to help us deliver these treats, we'd love to hear from you. Our volunteers who made deliveries last year found it to be a very rewarding experience and they were able to brighten the day of many individuals. Delivery times and locations can be fairly flexible. To volunteer to deliver treats, please contact us by email or phone us at 970-623-2598 to let us know you're interested.
