Jan. 17th, 2015 - Women Are The Change

Humanists Doing Good will be showing Women Are The Change, a brief documentary about how the education of women can change a continent. The film features ordinary girls from Sub-Saharan Africa struggling with the traumas of war, loss of innocence and loss of parents and showcases their transformation into extraordinary women. The documentary was produced by one of our members, Linda Stout. Linda will be present to answer questions and speak about the documentary and the women it follows.

This film grew out of Linda's passion to empower women to become leaders and policy makers. Originally, she sponsored a small program in the U.S. for African women to teach them leadership skills and to give them a wider view of their place in the world.

Linda was so inspired by knowing the women who attended her program that she decided to film a documentary about them so that others could know their stories.

The film includes interviews and scenes in rural villages as the story unfolds of how educated women give back to their communities.

This showing is free and open to the public.
