Apr. 12th, 2014 - Moroccan Potluck

Join us for one of our increasingly famous themed dinner nights. This time we'll be asking everyone to bring a Moroccan dish and trying to learn a little about Moroccan culture. Mary has created a menu that you can choose a dish or two from to make and we will then send you the recipe(s). Alternately, you can research your own recipe and then let us know what you're planning to bring so that we can avoid something like making only desserts.

Mary's menu items are listed on our meetup site and recipes will be provided upon first claim basis. Leave a comment on our meetup site or otherwise contact us to let us know what you'd like to make. If you are unable to make a dish but would still like to join us, we ask that you please consider making a reasonable donation to our organization to help benefit everyone in the future.

Click here to RSVP on our meetup group and to let us know which dish you would like to bring. As an alternative, you can respond to this email to RSVP or let us know what dish you would like to bring.

Apr. 6, 2014 - The Root of All Evil? Pt 2: The Virus of Faith

Join Humanists Doing Good as we show part two of the Root of All Evil? In this documentary, Oxford Professor Richard Dawkins examines how religious faith is gaining ground in the face of rational, scientific truth. Religious indoctrination of children is explored in part two, The Virus of Faith. According to Dawkins, forcing religious teachings on the young is tantamount to child abuse. Dawkins goes inside fundamentalist religious schools in Britain to explore the segregated and controlled way some children are educated, from social prejudices to creationism in science.

Part two is self-contained enough that even if you missed part one, you can easily join in the discussion and understand all of the material presented in the second part. We will discuss the video and ideas raised after watching the documentary. For those who are unfamiliar with Richard Dawkins, this documentary can serve as a good introduction.

When: Sunday, April 6th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Where: Mesa County Central Public Library Community Room (443 North 6th Street, Grand Junction)
