Mar. 15th, 2015 - Roadside Cleanup of Adopted Highway

Let's get out and clean our adopted section of the I-70 Business Loop just west of Mesa Mall. We have intentionally adopted a section of road that accumulates a lot of waste and we need all of our volunteers to help play a role in keeping our local environment clean. We will provide safety jackets and trash bags, but recommend that you bring your own gloves and water. We typically also have a treasure hunt for the strangest item. There are two safety videos we ask that volunteers watch before participating the first time and they can be viewed at the following link:

You can look up a recipe on your own or we can try to supply you with one you aren't having luck finding one. New people and guests are absolutely welcome.

Feb. 28th, 2015 - Hike Little Bookcliffs Wild Horse Area

Drive east on I-70 to Cameo exit #46.  Meet in front of the red Kokopelli Fruit Market at the bottom of the exit ramp. Bob and Donna are leading this hike and will meet you there. Follow their blue Honda for two miles on a dirt road to the trailhead for Coal Canyon.

The horses generally move into the Main canyon for easier access to water at this time of year. The hike will be ~4 miles round trip. There is one steep stretch so bring a walking stick if you use one.  We will cross the shallow creek 3-4 times. This two hour hike is usually described as easy to moderate.

Well-mannered dogs are welcome but please have a leash handy to insure the horses will not be disturbed. Please bring drinking water and a light lunch.
